Is your SLR camera stuck in auto mode?

That big fancy interchangeable lens camera you have is capable of taking incredible pictures, but to get the most from it you really need to know how to use all the buttons and knobs.

The problem is, it takes a lot of practice and time to learn about aperture, shutter speed, lighting, ISO and everything else you need to know to take incredible pictures. In the real world it’s hard to keep all the conditions the same while you experiment with all the settings.

That’s where the SLR Camera Simulator can help.

From the comfort of your laptop, the SLR Camera Simulator lets you change any of the important settings common to SLR cameras and snap a “photo” to see the effects in real time.

Trust us, this is incredibly useful for anyone who really wants to learn how to use a camera. Oh, and it’s free.

Now THAT is cool. Thanks – I can’t imagine how I’d ever have found this link, because it’s not even something I knew to look for.

Well, this just shows that I have absolutely NO clue whatsoever on how good cameras work haha

I certainly appreciate the link, this will be super useful for me as soon as I get a decent camera!

Having just purchased a new DSLR, and wondering why the pictures look the same as the cheaper point-and-shoot that it is replacing, this link couldn’t have come at a more opportune time.

Awesome! There’s so much to learn for sure. Also check out digital-photography-school.com – great resources there.

Thanks for mentioning the link to the camera simulator – will check it out later as the site is blockwed by my proxy (b/c of possible malware infection).

Anyway, the post is an eyeopener as most people leave theri digicams in auto mode and wonder why they only get average pictures. There are so many possibilities to enhance the photos you take by just applying the right features / programs on your digital camera.
My advice always is to try out the differnt settings with the same scenery and compare the results.

This will be perfect since I broke my screen on my Canon. I took it as a way to learn to actually take photos correctly, and this will definitely help me figure it out. :)
